This is a wedding case base I made for my friend Laurie .The majority of the job was turning the main aluminum columns from 2 1/4 solid rod stock .I did most of the shaping with a round nose cutter in the tool post followed by a quick smoothing with some wood cutting lathe tools on a regular tool rest and then I finished useing multiple stages of sandpaper and finaly #0000 steelwool .
