Robo Pendants
The Robo Pendants are little robot shaped jewelry items that hang from a necklace or as earrings. I'm selling the first couple of batches at the robot group fundraiser events with most of the proceeds going towards the group's general funding pool. The prices are $15 for the pendant and $20 for the earrings. At the moment the little critters just hang there but if I can fit a tiny motor, like the ones used for pager vibrators, I want to make them wave their arms when triggered by some sort of sensor or timer alarm. I have some ideas for making stackable feature modules for the body that do things like schedule reminders, take and pass notes, monitor health, display moods, tell jokes, ect.... If they were to really catch on and all the kids were wearing them it may be possible for them to network together in a crowd, to relay a message from one person to another through a large group. Or as a identity name tag that will broadcast your name and e-mail address ,all via IR emitters. The mood display could be something like the color of the eyes or the way it holds its arms, up for happy, down for mad. This would all be possible if they evolve into the blobject stage where they are pumped out by the millions for pennies each.

The picture below shows the lathe set up with a pattern follower.
This is the drilling jig. I insert the lathed body in a hole in the end and clamp the 2 sides together to hold it still while I drill the arm, leg, and cord holes then finally the eyes, all through pilot holes in the jig. All the pilot holes are starting to get too big from making so many of the robots that I will have to make a new jig or use what the pros use ..drill guide inserts. More on that some other time, project or whatever ...
