The Jumbo Machine Tool is basicly the JumboLathe with an extra axis .Overall it is 24 feet long(20 foot of travel for the X axis tool platform)by 8 foot high(6 foot of Z travel of the X axis beam) with a seperate 4 X 8 foot table that moves 6 feet in the Y axis on a 8 X 8 bed (the 2d pallet table shown below was an earlier design). Here are some of the first cads I have been able to ruff together.

I will eventualy offer plans and a build it yourself book with dvd,

I have about 20 hours of video of the making and operation of it but in such a crowded shop the cads

offer a much better picture of the layout.

The picture above is the front view.

The extra columns on either side will be connected and support a set of counterwieghts to take some

pressure off the vertical lead screws.

The picture below is the top view layout.

The idea with this thing is you have the gantry tool platform that can go over to the platform tool

storage rack and select a tool and then go over to any of the different machines available.

The lathe remains on a track on one side of the room and I can have several milling pallets that can

be moved in and out. so while the machine is cranking away I can be setting up the next batch or a

different project.
