Most of my 20's revolved around my involvment with the band LiQuiDMicE .I played the drums and made noise of all kinds on home made instruments like this spring-o-lin .It's basicly a spring stretched on a steel frame with a bass guitar pickup .I make industrial bows useing monofiliment fishing line instead of horse hair .You have to scrape the across the line with a file or sand paper to give it texture .I even make my own rosin from the pine trees around my house .
This is my very first Spring-o-lin made in mid eighties.
Making Spring-o-lins
This is the first step in making the bows.
I ruff cut them on the bandsaw and later will sand and seal them with a polyurethane.
Here iI make a cut down the center of the end to insert a strip of wood to provide some cross grain support to the narrow section.
The clamps are just strips of 1/4 inch plywood with sheetrock screws pulling them together.
For the body I use 1/4" X 2" steel flat stock and cut them to shape with either a metal cutting bandsaw or the cutting torch.
This is a batch of the ruff cut steel blanks.
Me and one of my favorite satisfied customers Banshee.
