The small town I live in now is mostly retired people and the center of town is occupied by an ever expanding golf course. On my side of town (the lower income part) has a guy who used to sell and repair golf carts. He is now retired from the biz and had a bunch of these old carts sitting outside for years. I stopped in one day just to see what was up with them and ended up buying the only 3 left with motors for $10 bucks each. Some how that was the motivation for me to get the big evil gas guzzling truck working again because I had a big crane on the back needed to load and unload them. Since them I have collected one more cart and hopefully enough old dead batteries to recycle for a full set of new ones. I have also joined the AustinEV club. Their site is http://www.austinev.org so check them out.
The red arrows point to some possable signs of a motor drawing more current than normal(bad).
This last one is an old Pargo which is the one I'm going to refurbish because it has the best suspension. I'm thinking of using the motors from the other 2 together to convert my old Toyota truck to electric. Maybe having one motor engaged to drive first and second gear and the other motor would kick in the extra power for third and forth gear.
