This is where I just wasted several weeks trying to put together a proposal which worked just fine on this site but when I tried to cut and paste it to the grant application website it would not work. The pdf would not convert to edit, the word docs would not paste, the person that was suppose to be handling the tech problems never returned my calls, the email address listed on the site bounced, and the one person that did answer the phone told me any variations or exceptions would be unfair to all the rest that had no problems. I have to quit trying to expect things to be any differant than total failure. When I do fundraisers for others it allways works fine and I alway make big bucks for others but if there is any chance at all of me coming out ahead it is always the same....total failure. Fate is a cruel mistess, simpathy?????next window. The rules are clear: you have to pay to play and the house always wins. Oh well, I never like being out on the streets during drunk driver conventions anyway.

This is where I will be displaying my grant projects. This is one of the FashionOids called Electric Glamour Girl. Click the Fashionoids link to get the details but my plan for FirstNightAustin is to make a set of 5 costume suits that are basicly wearable versions of her. Another thing that could be included in the costumes will be little coils similar to guitar pickups that amplify the buzzing sound that the electro-lumanecent wire makes as the controller cycles thru all the differant segments. The length of each sement of EL wire effects the pitch of the buzz so as it cycles, it produces a sort of melody. Those signals will be used as a textural drone background for the main instruments called Spring-o-lins. For more on the Spring-o-lins check out GizmoMusic.All of these sounds could be mixed and amplified thru a small battery powered sound system built into a small cart pushed by hand.
Another added option is for the costumed people to be escorting a 20 foot tall inflateable Father Time. They wanted us to think big so.... The shoes are actualy peddel cars that will also carry battery powered fans to keep the old guy inflated. The legs will be reinforced with a lightweight foam/composite rod structure to help support the body. The reaper staff and clock will also have a person in each that will move in the sequence as shown in the animation. The clock will be made of foam so it can be easily carried along by the operator who will have to be less than 5 feet tall. The top of the head will be about 20 feet when standing fully upright but when approching overhead traffic signals and wires, the shoes will pause and the clock and staff will move ahead pulling the overall height down to a clearance level or possably having the shoes first with staff and clock behind would produce a "limbo manuver". With the shoes weighing about 350 each there will be very little chance that the wind could be a problem as is the case with more conventional inflatables but just to be safe the costumed EL Gals could also help with control ropes.
